“Have dominion” (Genesis 1:26). What powerful words! These words were the first words the Father spoke to man.

In fact, these words and other words found in verses 26 and 28 define what man is supposed to be about.

     •  First, the Father said, “Have dominion”

     •  Second, He said (in verse 28), “Be fruitful and multiply”

     •  Thirdly, He said, “subdue” (the earth)

Notice that He didn’t say to work for a living. These things and many more things came after man turned over dominion of the world to the Devil at the Fall of Man (Genesis 3:1-6).

The good news is that Jesus became the “last Adam” (1 Corinthians 15:45). His death, burial and resurrection took back the dominion from the devil and made the way for all Believers to again live their lives according to the Father’s original intent — to have dominion, replenish the earth and subdue whatever is contrary to God and His ways.

Understanding this is very important when you pray for your city. Because, when you understand this, there’s a boldness, confidence and an unleashing of God’s power through you that’s aimed at whatever your praying about.

So before you pray the Prayer For Your City, take a moment and think about the position of dominion you have over the influence the demonic realm is exerting over your city and its people.

Know this— your position of dominion rules over and has the God given power to subdue the attempts and attacks of the demonic realm.

I hope your coming week will be blessed and full of the knowledge that because of who you are in Him and the dominion He longs for you to walk in, your prayers will unleash a supernatural power that will change your city.
